Malta | 2016 co-ops financial statements audit deadline – Jun 30, 2017
All co-operative societies in Malta are obliged to prepare audited financial statements and present these at their Annual General Meetings by not later than the 30th June of each year. This is obligatory for all trading and non-trading cooperative societies registered with the Co-operatives Board whether they are “small undertakings” or not .
Audited financial statements may only be audited by a Certified Public Accountant holding a warrant to act as auditor under the Accountancy Profession Act in Malta.
All coops must submit their full-set of the audited financial statements to the Co-operatives Board by the 30th June of each year. The full set of audited accounts will be made available to the public by the Cooperative Board unless, the co-operative society also submits to the Co-ops Board audited abridged financial statements by the 30th June of that year. In such cases, only the audited abridged accounts will be made available for public scrutiny.
The audited financial statements for the period ended 31st December 2016 must be approved by the Committee of Management, presented at the co-operative society’s AGM and submitted to the Co-operatives Board, all by the 30th June 2017.
